Dromard
On Wednesday last our junior A panel played their last game of our group against Killashee in Pairc na Gael. We played against a slight breeze in the opening half and we found ourselves trailing five points to one. However we finished the half strongly scoring a further 2-2 to leave the half time score Dromard 2-3 Killashee 0-5. We again netted twice early on after the resumption and went on to build on this lead to finish ahead at the final whistle on the scoreline Dromard 4-9 Killashee 0-7. Subs used; Niall Berry (0-1), Kevin Hourican and Padraic Farrell. On Sunday evening our seniors were out in the championship quarter final against Cashel in Pearse Park. Cashel opened the scoring with a point from play. We replied with a 1-5 run of scores. At half time we held a 2-7 to 0-3 lead. The second half saw us add to our tally leaving the full time score of Dromard 6-12 Cashel 1-7. St Francis - Dromard
On Tuesday last our minor team travelled to Fr McGee Park to take on Colmcille in the 1st round of the minor championship. Conditions were ideal and it was St Francis that got off to a great start going into a 1-4 to no score lead. The home side responded with an unanswered 2-5 to take a 4-point advantage. Gary Maguire struck with a well taken goal to leave the half time score of Colmcille 2-5 St Francis 2-4. We started the second half with three points. However the home side hit a purple patch scoring 1-9 without reply. Not admitting defeat our charges came strongly back into game with a 6-point scoring burst. A couple of close calls at the end left it a tense finish. However it wasn't to be and Colmcille held on to win on the scoreline Colmcille 3-14 St Francis 2-13. Credit to both teams who served up a highly committed and good quality encounter.
