Dromard
On Sunday last we played our neighbours Fr. Manning Gaels in our last championship game of the group stages. Weather conditions were ideal for football and it was our opponents who opened the scoring with two points from play. We responded with a pointed free and then the Gaels extended their lead by virtue of three further points from play. We reduced the half time margin to 1 as a result of three more points towards the end of the half. The half time scoreline was Fr Manning Gaels 0-5 Dromard 0-4. The second half opened with a goal from the Drumlish/Ballinamuck outfit. We came into the game from that point on and we scored ten points to leave the final scoreline at Dromard 0-14 to Fr Manning Gaels 1-5. Team and scorers; Damien Sheridan, Kevin Donohoe, Cathal Conefrey, Niall Vance, Peter Reynolds, Peter Masterson, Padraic Martin, Diarmuid Masterson, Noel Reynolds, David Pettit (0-2), Francis McGee (0-7) 3 frees, Donal Sheridan (0-1), James Martin (0-3) 3 frees, Ronan McEntire, Cian Mimnagh. Well done to Noel and Marian Maguire and family, Aughamore Lower on a very successful fundraising function in aid of Crumlin Children's Hospital on Thursday night last. The family wish to thank everyone who supported and helped out on the night. This was a fitting way for us all to remember Francis who would be 21 years old now. The total raised was €4,100 and the account will remain open for a short while if anyone still wishes to contribute. Congratulations to Geraldine and Scott Buchanan on the birth of their baby boy recently. We would like to extend our sympathy to the Smyth family, Fyhora, on the death of Michael Smyth during the week. Lotto results for Monday night 6th August. The numbers drawn were 7, 16, 17 and 19. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the draw were Hugh McCartin, Diarmuid Masterson Jnr., Peter Cosgrove and Richard Tweedy. The seller's prize was won by Pat Jones.
