Abbeylara left it late to edge out Cashel's challenge on Saturday in this Longford SFC Group Two clash at Emmet Park.

Cashel looked the more likely side given their first-half performance, which saw them take in a 0-7 to 0-4 lead at the break, but Abbeylara dug deep with veteran forward Niall Sheridan and Maurice O'Connor to the forefront.

Abbeylara tied it up at 0-7 each ten minutes into the restart before Cashel regained the lead with a fine point from Derek Farrell.

Sheridan levelled again and that pattern continued, with substitute Bernard Crawford hitting a disputed point five minutes from the end, in which time Michael O'Connor managed to break down Cashel's wall and find a winner for Abbey. Tweet
