Dromard
In the first round of the Junior B Championship we take on Longford Slashers at home this Wednesday evening at 8pm while on Saturday evening next we play Sean Connolly's in the Junior A championship at 7pm also at home. On Sunday last we started our senior championship campaign when we took on Rathcline in Clonguish. Conditions were dry and very suitable for football. We opened the scoring with 2 early points but our opponents soon replied to level. With further points exchanged we managed to stay keep a minimum of three point ahead for most of the first half finishing the half on a scoreline of Dromard 0-9 Rathcline 0-4. Dromard went on to hold onto this lead up to the end despite plenty of Rathcline pressure. The final score was. Dromard 1-17, Rathcline 1-10. We had a good junior challenge at home to Legan on Wednesday. We wish belated Bon voyage to Cíarán McCabe who has taken up residence in London and now togs out for Cuchulainn's GAA club. Congratulations to Geraldine and Martin Reilly on the birth of their baby daughter Emily during the week. Sincere condolences to the Reilly family Legga on the recent death of Andy Reilly. Lotto results for Monday 12th July 2010. The numbers drawn were 1, 5, 12 and 29. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the draw were Margaret Ging, James Smith, Rose Derwin and Bridget Brennan. Joseph Murphy won the seller's prize.
St. Francis - Dromard
On Tuesday last our under 14 panel travelled to Farneyhogan to take on Longford Slashers. Our team started well opening up a lead, which they held on to until the end. The final score was St Francis 8-13 Longford Slashers 7-3. Team and scorers; Barry Smith, Joseph Reynolds (0-1), Brian Kiernan, Barry Connell (1-0), Peadar Kiernan (1-1), Liam Doherty, Dylan Masterson (1-3), Cian Smith (0.1), Brian McCormack (2-5), Martin McStay (0.2), Oisín Hourican (2.0), Conal Murphy, Patrick Mimnagh (1.0). On Wednesday our under 10's travelled to Devine Park, Edgeworthstown where they played the local side in a blitz. Players on duty were Jason Murtagh, Liam Donohoe, David Donohoe, Ronan Bleakley, Amy McLoughlin, Karen McLoughlin, Joseph Hagan, Shauna Hagan, Cáit Murphy, Gareth O'Hara, Cian Grey, Luke McEntire, Conor McGahern, Kate Masterson, Aaron Farrell, Daragh O'Toole, and Gabriel Grey. Thanks to parents for providing transport. On Thursday our under 12's had St Dominic's as visitors to Pairc na Gael in the under 12 league. After a very competitive game our team came out on top on the scoreline St Francis 3.8 St Dominic's 2.5.Team and scorers; Oisín Hourican, Daragh O'Toole, Dylan McCormack, Éanna Mimnagh (1.0), Luke Mc Entire (2.1), Martin McStay (0.2), Joseph Hagan (0.2), Ronan Bleakley (0.1), Jason Murtagh (0.2), Niall Grey. Next game is away to Grattan's next Thursday. On Thursday also our minors played St James in Pairc na Gael. Our opponents had the better of early scoring exchanges. Despite closing the margin to 2pts in the second half it was our opponents who finished the stronger. The final score was St Francis 3.4, St James 4.8.Team and scorers.
