Club Notes for issue dated Friday 12th March 2010


Belated thanks to our 4 representatives James Mimnagh, Enda Kiernan, Emmet Masterson and Cian Mimnagh who ran on the club's behalf in the fundraiser for the county senior team at Longford greyhound track on last Friday week. Unfortunately Cian picked up an injury on the night. We wish him a speedy recovery. Our seniors had a challenge with Belturbet on Saturday in Pairc na Gael. The visitors finished ahead on the scoreline 1.11 to 0.10.Team and scorers. Gavin McNerney, Kevin Donohoe, Niall Vance, Padraic McNerney, Enda Kiernan, Cathal Conefrey, Padraic Martin, John Sheridan, David Pettit (0.5) 3 frees, Peadar Faughnan, Donal Sheridan, Ciaran Mc Stay, Ronan Mc Entire (0.2) 1 free, Peter Masterson (0.2). Subs used. Paul Mc Entire, Donie Conefrey (0.1), Emmet Masterson. On Sunday a second string selection took on Grattans in a practice game in Pairc na Gael. This was useful match practice for both teams. Team and subs. Well done to our county contingent Damian, Diarmuid, James, Francis and Cian who got their first point of their national league campaign when the drew away to Waterford. Hope they can go one better when they entertain Wicklow next Sunday. Well done to all who represented the club in the ballad group and recitation sections of Senior Scor at the Leinster semi finals on Sunday last. We wish the best of luck to the ballad group of Anne Matthews, Caitríona Mulligan, Fr. Patsy McDermott, Lizzy Reilly and Margaret Dunne now go forward to the Leinster final in Ballymore Co Westmeath in a few weeks. The next event on our social calendar the Nob Nation show with the well-known satirist Oliver Callan from RTE'S 2FM which takes place in the Longford Arms Hotel on 17th April. Tickets for this event will be on sale shortly. Lotto results for Monday 1st March 2010. The numbers drawn were 5, 13, 15 and 18. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the draw for €20 each were Martha Donlon, Teresa Vance, Mary Reynolds and Frank Toher. The seller's prize was won by Joseph Murphy.

Minor Club Notes for issue dated 12th March 2010

Our u14's had Carrigallen as visitors on Saturday last. This was a very useful workout. Team and scorers; Oisín Hourican, Daniel Grey, Joseph Reynolds, Cian Smith, Cillian Hourican, Liam Doherty, Barry Connell (1.0), Dylan Masterson (0.3) 1 free, Niall Mc Manus (1.0), Dylan McCormack Peadar Kiernan (1.1), Conal Murphy, Martin Mc Stay, Brian Kiernan, Fíachra Grey. The u14 féile is due to start in the next couple of weeks. On Sunday our minors travelled to Kenagh for a challenge. This was a high scoring competitive encounter and was a good workout for both sides. Team and scorers; Niall Mc Manus, Ronan Smith, Stephen Kenny, Robert Cooke, James Kenny, Keith Masterson (0.1), Michael Reynolds, Sean McNerney (1.1), Gary Maguire (1.4) 1 free, Cormac O'Brien, Peter Mimnagh (3.4) 2 frees, Peadar Martin (1.0). The special minor league is due to start next weekend. We have a bye in the first round.
