Longford appeal fails

March 04, 2010

Longford manager Glen Ryan has words with referee Sean Carroll after the Longford Limerick NFL clash at Pearse Park
The Longford county board have had their appeal to overturn the result of last month's Division Four defeat to Limerick thrown out by the Central Hearing Committee.

Longford appealed the result after scoring a last gasp goal against Limerick, which would have won them the game, moments after Westmeath referee Sean Carroll blew for full-time.

However, under the new experimental rules the game should not have been brought to an end until the ball went out of play, and although Carroll acknowledged this in his match report, the CHC did not entertain Longford's appeal when it was brought before them last night.

Longford now have yet to decide on their next move regarding the appeal.
