Longford CAC appeal tonight

Longford manager Glen Ryan has words with referee Sean Carroll after the Longford Limerick NFL clash at Pearse Park
The Longford county board are ready to present their appeal against the result of their NFL Division Four defeat to Limerick to the Central Appeals Committee (CAC) tonight (Tuesday).

Longford have brought their appeal to the CAC after the Central Control Competitions Committee (CCCC) over looked referee Sean Carroll's report, in which the Westmeath official admitted that he had made a mistake in blowing the full-time whistle after the ball before the ball had went out of play.

Longford has scored what would have been the winning goal moments after Carroll had blown for full-time and are now contending the result, which was 1-8 to 0-9 in favour of Limerick, as the new experimental rules state that the game can only be brought to an end once the ball goes dead.

It will be Longford's case that the game was ended prematurely by Carroll and that the goal should have stood, but as the game was already into injury-time and the current rules are only in the experimental stage, the odds could well be stacked against them winning their case.
