Ladies score convincing win against Wexford

February 25, 2010
Longford 1-14
Wexford 1-2

Longford ladies recovered from their disappointing defeat to Cavan to see off Wexford with little fuss last Sunday at Emmet Park, Killoe, where they registered their first two points of their Division Three campaign.

The hosts were well on their way once Edel Quinn rattled the Wexford net early on and that was backed up by Denis Murtagh, Alice Magan and Quinn all pointing to send their team into a commanding 1-7 to 0-1 half-time lead.

Longford soon extended that lead after the break, when Murtagh sent over a pair of frees and although Wexford gained a fortunate goal when Tara Moloney's free dropped to the net with 13 minutes gone in the second-half, there was no way back for the Model women at that stage.

Murtagh struck some more frees, which were backed up by a strong finish from here team-mates, where Mary Kiernan, Jacinta Brady and Una Flynn got on the score-sheet in an emphatic victory.
