Congratulations to our Ballad Group and Recitation entries in Senior Scor who won the county final of Senior Scor in the '98 Hall, Ballinamuck on Sunday last and well done to everyone who took part. Those involved were - Ballad Group (Ann Matthews, Lizzy Reilly, Margaret Dunne, Fr. Patsy McDermott and Caitríona Mulligan), Recitation (Susan Murphy), Solo Singing (Margaret Dunne), Novelty Act (Evelyn Kiernan, Brendan Gray, Roisin Kiernan, Alan McLoughlin, Brendan Kiernan Sean Conefrey and James Grimes), Set Dancing (Marian Grimes, Lorna Hourican, Peggy Kiernan, Veronica McStay, Alan McLoughlin, Sean Conefrey, Ray Murphy and John Duffy) Question Time (Ray Murphy, John Duffy and Gerry Donohoe). A number of players from the club are taking part in a fundraising event, "Longford GAA's Fastest Club Team" in aid of Longford Footballer's Team Training Fund, which will take place at Longford Greyhound Track on Friday night 26th February at 8pm. Tickets for this event are available from any of the senior players. Ticket sellers are asked return ticket money to the club treasurer as soon as possible. Well done to Diarmuid and Peter Masterson who were part of the Athlone IT Sigerson cup win over Sligo IT on Wednesday last. They now advance to the semi final where they take on UCC in the semi final in Maynooth on Friday next. Hard luck to our Longford representatives Damian, Diarmuid, Francis & Cian & the injured James Martin and their teammates who were beaten by Limerick in unfortunate circumstances in Pearse Park. On Saturday a second-string selection played Carrigallen in Pairc na Gael. This was a useful workout and finished up on the scoreline of Dromard 4-15 Carrigallen 2-07.Team and scorers; Danny Pettit, James Conefrey, James Mimnagh, Niall Jones, Alan McLoughlin, Padraic Mc Nerney, Enda Kiernan, Donal Sheridan, Conor Duffy, Adrian Maguire (1-05) 1 free, Emmet Masterson (0-03), Mícheál Reilly (2-02), Kevin Hourican (1-01), Ciaran Mc Stay (0-02), Martin Mc Gee (0-02). On Sunday we again played Carrigallen this time in a senior challenge. It was the visitors on this occasion that came out on top 0-12 to 0-07.Our team on duty was Martin McGee, Enda Kiernan, James Mimnagh, Mícheál Reilly, Kevin Donohoe, Padraic Martin, Padraic Mc Nerney, Donal Sheridan, Peter Reynolds, David Pettit, Adrian Maguire, Peadar Faughnan, Donie Conefrey, Peter McEntire, Ciaran McStay. Subs used; Conor Duffy, Peter Masterson, Emmet Masterson and Declan Mimnagh. Hard luck to John, Gavin, Ronan Bernard Sheridan who were part of the Longford u21 panel who were defeated by Wicklow in the Leinster championship in Aughrim on Sunday last. Our next monthly club meeting will take place in the clubhouse next Monday night 1st March at 9.30pm after the weekly lotto draw. Lotto results for Monday 15th February. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the draw were Tracey Dillon, Evelyn Kiernan, Kathleen Lee & Pat Duffy, Ailish & Tommy Smith. The seller's prize was won by Nuala McLoughlin.
