Ballymahon Club Notes

09 November 2009

BALLYMAHON

Hard luck to the Division Five team, who lost out by the narrowest of margins to Carrickedmond in the Final last Sunday in Ardagh. The game doubled as an event in aid of the Joe McCormack Fund, and we hope the fundraiser in the Rustic Inn on Sunday night was a fantastic success. Team: Ronan Lennon, Stephen Cooney, Jamie Noonan, Gareth Murtagh, Diarmuid Fallon, Matthew Daly, Barry Flynn, Thomas Lowry, Charlie Byrne, Jamesie Farrell, Eddie Noonan, Kyle Fitzmaurice, Dan Carberry. Subs.: James Daly, Thomas Mulvihill, Kevin OÄôSullivan, Tommy Flynn, Ian Mulvihill, Niall Dowler, James McCormack, Gordon Cooney, Willie Forbes, Graham Forbes, Pedro Byrne. That was our last Senior game of the year, with the Minor League Division Two Final, and the u-21 A Championship Quarter-Final still to be played. The latter will be on this Sunday against Longford Slashers at 2.00pm. Please check fixtures for further details. The AGM of the Senior Club will take place on Sunday afternoon, 29th November next at 4.00pm. Nomination and Motion forms are being distributed at the moment and a large attendance is expected to review the year gone by and map out where we want to be in the year ahead. There was no winner of last weekÄôs Jackpot in MurrayÄôs worth Ǩ2000. Congratulations to the Ǩ30 winners: Willie Collins, Martin Keenan, Colette Connor and Albert Fallon. Last MondayÄôs Draw was held in The PigeonÄôs, with the Jackpot worth Ǩ2100, and the Promoters Prize worth Ǩ210. Tickets are on sale from the usual outlets and cost Ǩ2. Special tickets costing Ǩ20 are available from any member of the executive and entitle the buyer to be automatically entered into the Draw with the same set of numbers for 12 consecutive weeks, with two weeks free. Anyone who buys their tickets now will be entitled to be entered into a draw on 7th December next in KiernanÄôs, where the prizes include: Ǩ200 voucher and 50 bales briquettes; Ǩ150 voucher and 20 bales briquettes; Ǩ100 voucher; Ǩ100 meat voucher; 30 bales briquettes and 20 bales briquettes. The Minor Club AGM will take place on Saturday November 28th next at 8.00pm in Leo Casey Park Clubhouse. Nomination and motion forms will be sent out during the coming week and it is hoped a large crowd will attend. All positions on the Minor Executive will be open for contesting, as will the mentors to go with each team. The response we get this year will be a gauge of where we are going as a Club in the future. If anyone wishes to contact me, my details are as follows: Tommy Flynn, Main St., Ballymahon, Co. Longford; tflynn2@eircom.net; (090) 6432148; (087) 7693381. Finally, hard luck to Clonguish, and our neighbours Cashel and Forgney, who lost out in their respective provincial championships at the weekend, and well done to each of them for representing our county with distinction in Leinster.
