Five-year rule to have major effect in '09

December 18, 2008
The top table in Longford GAA will be altered radically at next year's Convention, courtesy of the five-year rule. None of the positions on the executive were contested this year, but as many as FIVE officers will have to vacate their present posts at the end of 2009 in accordance with the Croke Park directive that excludes board members from serving in the same position for any longer than five consecutive years. Secretary Seamus Quinn and treasurer Brendan Gilmore will have to step down at the end of the coming calendar year. Others who must relinquish their positions on the executive are: Central Council delegate John Greene, Leinster Council delegate Seamus Flynn and Development Officer Frank Kiernan.
