Longford SFC final: Killoe scrape past Slashers

October 06, 2019

Killoe Emmet Og's Ronan McGoldrick and Dermot Brady of the Longford Slashers

Ronan McGoldrick is the toast of Killoe this evening as his fisted point swung today’s Longford SFC final against Longford Slashers in their favour.

‘Man-of-the-match” Daniel Mimnagh set up McGoldrick for what proved to the decisive score in the fourth minute of stoppage time at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

It saw Killoe scrape home on a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-11.

A keenly contested first-half finished with Killoe ahead by the narrowest of margins.

As the clock ticked down, a replay appeared a distinct possibility after an Andrew Kelly free left the team tied on the scoreboard.

There was still time, however, for midfielder McGoldrick to pop up with the winner.

He was one of seven scorers for the winners with Mimnagh and Sean McCormack sharing the honours with 0-3 each.

Kelly found the target with five frees for the town side.
