Dromard club notes

December 11, 2017

Sympathy: Dromard GAA Club extends its sympathy to the family of Fr Michael Lynch, formerly of Pulladoey and who served in the Diocese of Nottingham, who passed away recently. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a ainm.

Dromard GAA Special Members Draw: The first draw of the new season took place in the Clubhouse on Sunday last with five lucky winners receiving an early Christmas present. Well done to the following winners: Deirdre McGauran, Firmullagh who claimed the €500 prize and Celine Sheridan, Corrinagh, Mae Reilly, Drumhaldry, Danny Petit, Garvary and Leroy Kiernan, Drumhaldry who all won €100 each. The Club would like to thank all our supporters who have renewed their subscriptions in such large numbers and to all our new subscribers. Anyone who would like to join our Monthly Draw can still do so by simply visiting the online page www.iregister.ie/dromardgaa and purchase your subscription there. Alternatively, please text 0858879243 and we will contact you.

Dromard AGM: The AGM of Dromard GAA takes place on Saturday 23rd of December at 5.30pm in the Clubhouse. Nomination forms for club officer positions are now available in Moyne Stores and Corrigans.

Sean Connolly's GAA Rounders: Sean Connolly's GAA has created a new rounders sub committee for Senior players in Longford. GAA Rounders was included in the original GAA charter in 1884, along with Gaelic Football, Hurling and Handball. Sean Connollys Rounders now begins the task of player recruitment. Team members can be from any GAA club as long as they are also registered with their local club. Players in other counties play competitive matches until well into their fifties, so if you are interested and aged 30-60, this may be of interest to you. Former Rounders, Hurling and Camogie players would be very welcome, but full training will also be available for those new to the sport. The first recruitment / information meeting is 4pm Sunday 10th December in Sean Connollys Clubhouse, Maguire Park, Ballinalee. For further information contact [email protected] or the Facebook page Sean Connollys Rounders.

Dromard Ladies Club Notes

Fuel Draw: Tickets are selling well and are readily available from Corrigans, Gortermone and Moyne Stores plus any members of Dromard Ladies. Special thanks to Granard Mart for allowing sale of tickets at their recent sale, and well done to Imelda Reynolds and Eleanor Gray for braving the icy weather to promote them. Great dedication to the cause Ladies. The draw takes place early January so still plenty of time to put yourself in with a chance.

County Training: Unfortunately the weather disrupted us last week, but hopefully we can get things going this week. At present, weather permitting U/14 Training resumes tonight (Weds) at 7pm in Moydow with Enda Duncan with a match on Sunday at 11am also in Moydow. Minor Training (u/18's) starts Sat at 2pm also in Moydow with Carol Manning. Any changes will be notified via our text service to all parents. We have always tried to have representation on all County Panels so parents please encourage your girls to at least give it a try.

Birthday Celebration: A big shout out this week to 3 young ladies stepping up to next year's u/12 Panel, namely Meadhbh Carbery, Kate Waters and Caoimhe Kearney who will all be 11 over this weekend. Happy Birthday Ladies.
