City G.A.A. Board Notes It was all systems go last weekend at the Limerick City G.A.A. Board with a complete set of fixtures. It started last Thursday evening when the Limerick Post Newspaper City junior A and B football championships got underway in the junior A football championship Ballybrown surprise Monaleen when they defeated Monaleen by a goal 2-08 to 1-08 in a very entertaining game at Clarina.
In the first round of the Limerick Post Newspaper City junior B football championship Na Piarsaigh got the better of the home side Ballinacurra Gaels by 2-12 to 2-07 and Claughaun recorded a four point victory over Mungret 12 points to Mungret 8 points.
On this Thursday evening at 7pm round (2) of the championship continues with Claughaun home to Abbey Sarsfields and Mungret will have Ballinacurra Gaels as visitors.
On this Friday evening at 7pm Claughaun will take on Killulta Gaels at the Childers road venue in the 1st playoff in the Naughton's Fuel &Oil Annacotty City minor football division (1) championship winner of this game will go into the final while the losers will face Na Piarsaigh in the 2nd playoff.
Only one game played in the Permanent tsb 24, Sarsfield St. City junior hurling championship was between Old Christians and Crecora and many thanks to the Monaleen club for providing the venue for this game at the last minute. The men from Rathbane ended their round robin championship campaign with a very convincing win and ended Crecora unbeaten run in the championship when they defeated Crecora by 4-09 to 1-11. Crecora will now take on St.Patrick,Äôs on this Saturday evening in Cahirdavin in their final game of the championship league.
In the closing stages of the Horse & Hound Bar Mulgrave St. City junior B hurling championship last Sunday in group (1) Claughaun has qualified for the semi finals following their 5-09 to 1-08 win over Kildimo while in group (2) Mungret had an easy victory over Milford 4-24 to 1-06 semi finals will take place on this Sunday with Pallaskenry taking on Patrickswell at 12 noon and at 6pm Claughaun a wait,Äôs the winners of Crecora and Mungret venues for the semi finals to be confirmed. In round (1) of the Nolan Motors Factors Henry St. City under 21 a hurling championship Ballybrown and Patrickswell produce a classic of a game at Clarina.
The home side Ballybrown led at the break by 0-09 to 2-02 but the vistors had the last say when they snatch victory with a late goal to win out by 3-08 to 0-14 in this competition all three sides including Na Piarsaigh will meet each other twice over the coming weeks. On this Sundays at 1pm Na Piarsaigh will entertain Ballybrown in round (2) at the Cahirdavin venue. The board would like once again to thank all our championship and league sponsors for this year.
