Unpaid fees could cause fixture chaos in Limerick

August 15, 2008
Club fixtures in Limerick could be facing severe disruption after it emerged that a number of teams could be expelled from the championships as a result of unpaid fees. Limerick treasurer Owen Hayes revealed at last Tuesday night's county board meeting that the board is owed approximately EUR10,000 in entry fees, referees fees and property insurance. He said 27 clubs in the county were not registered, while a further 16 had submitted registration forms, but no money. Clubs have been given until next Tuesday, August 19 to pay up or face the prospect of being removed from the championship. Meanwhile, it has been announced that Limerick GAA's blueprint for the future will be launched on August 26 in the South Court Hotel. The hurling and football plans were formulated by Eamon Cregan, Shane Fitzgibbon, Pat Culhane, Noel Hartigan, Eibhir O'Dea (hurling) and Michael Sheehan, Colette O'Grady, Brian Kelly, John Colbert and Ollie Coffey (football).
