John Brudair is confident that the work being done for football in the county can pay off in the coming years.

This week Brudair stood down from his role as Limerick senior football manager after three seasons in charge.

The Dromcollogher-Broadford man told the Limerick Leader that his era will hopefully be remembered as a rebuilding phase for the county after he gave 20 new players championship action during his tenure.

"Hopefully in the years to come the work that was done will come to bear but the players will have to be progressed and all will need to be patient," said Brudair.

"I knew going into the job that it would be tough - the brilliant team of the 2000s was coming to an end and rebuilding would be needed.

"But the level of rebuilding I didn't expect - it was a very challenging level of transition. It's an unbelievably challenging job.

"But it's very rewarding to be involved with a group of players who are the best at their sport. I loved being involved with them."
