Bennis can't put his finger on what went wrong

Former manager Richie Bennis is fearful that Limerick's mentality could be affected by their failure to secure promotion to the top flight.

The Treaty County take on Laois this Sunday in a match that is nothing more than a glorified challenge after their slip up against Offaly last weekend.

"I'd be afraid a bit of it creeping into the mentality," Bennis remarked to The Irish Daily Star.

"But they're probably not good enough to go up to the first division, it looks like they're not. We're five years at it, you know.

"I don't want to criticise them too much because it won't help the situation but I'd say Limerick haven't got the back-up talent that we thought we had.

"It was in our own hands and we didn't avail of it and I can't put by finger on what went wrong."
