INTERMEDIATES:Intermediate hurling cup semi final took place last Saturday afternoon as Caherline played Kildimo/Pallaskenry in Mungret.
Perfect conditions for hurling with sunshine and no wind to disrupt the game. We got the better start from the throw in and started to put pressure on the kildimo defence and our first score came from a 65 by Gary Murphy more pressure from our forwards resulted in frees and all were converted by Gary Murphy.
With twelve minutes gone a ball played in by William Hourigan from the wing and Brendan Hourigan pulled on it and scored our opening goal this now set us up nicely and the lads started to take control and midfield with Andrew Brennan and Dean Power supplying direct ball to all six forwards and this resulted in scores from play for James Enright and Brendan Hourigan and on twenty minutes gone we scored our second goal as a high ball played in by Peter Tiernan was controlled by fullforward Brendan Hourigan and he turned the fullback and struck the ball to the back of the hit now up by 2-5 to 0-4 Kildimo pushed on for the rest of the half to try and narrow the lead before half time but the lads in defence held firm and at the break we went in up by 2-9 to 0-7.
Second half was a much tighter affair as both sides kept the space to a premium with just forty seconds gone a point by Andrew Brennan opened up a lead of nine points. The game then went into a period of both sides having chances and not converting them as the wides tally on both sides went up. Kildimo now had upped the tempo and were pushing for goals to reduce our lead but our fullback line of Mark Ryan,David Corbett and Padriag O'Keeffe kept them at bay and we started to regain possession again in midfield and the half forward line and points by Peter Tiernan, Brendan hourigan and free from Gary Murphy now had us up 2-14 to 0-12 with little under seven minutes remaining. The remaining minutes of the game were stop starting with three frees in a row scored by Kildimo to reduce our lead to just five points this did lead to frantic final few minutes as they threw everything at us in a bid to get the goals to win but it was to no avail as our backs who were dominant all day held firm and cleared whatever was thrown at them and at full time it was Caherline who won on a full time score of 2-14 to 0-15.
Well done to all the players on the day in just a few short weeks we have gone from relegation favourite's to now into the county cup final the final will be against St Kierans.

U13S:Our U13 hurlers hosted Croagh Kilfinny on Monday evening 6th Oct in their final game of the 13 aside hurling championship. On a very wet evening all in attendance were on the edge of their seat right through to the final whistle. There was a lot at stake with both teams going into this game on the same points; it was winner takes all to secure a place against Claughaun in final.
Croagh got off to a good start and put us under a lot of pressure in the first half where we struggled to get into the game, going in at half time 8pts down on a score line of 3gls 2pts to 1gl. We needed a massive performance in the second half to get ourselves back into the game, and that's what we got. The Caherline boys dug deep and battled hard to play themselves back into the game cutting the lead back to 2pts. But on a night where we just didn't get any breaks we lost out to Croagh on a final score line of 3gls 2pts to 3gls. This was definitely a game of two halves where Croagh dominated the first half and Caherline taking the second but just couldn't't get over the line even though we kept our opposition scoreless in the second half.
Well done to the 15 players who togged out and battled hard on the night. Team, Patryk Kolodziejczak, Matt Hogan, Diarmuid Murnane, Josh Moloney, Darragh McNamara, Matthew O'Connor, Sean Erasmus, Jake Kennedy, Conor Enright, Nicholas Tierney, James Halvey, Niall O'Connor, Liam Shanahan, Jack Carroll and Kieran Shanahan.

UNDERAGE: Friday evening in the gaa field was a hive of activity as both the U6's and U8's were involved in a hurling blitz's. Good turnout of players from both codes led to great games being played and all in attendance were treated to plenty of skill on view.
Intermediate coach Val Murnane presented medals afterwards to both sets of teams.
Well done to all on the evening and thanks to all the coaches and parents for their help and support.
