Cappamore Gaa Club Notes

Intermediate Hurling Championship Round 1
Cappamore 1.13
Newcastle West 1.13.
After 63 Minutes of play the two side could not be separated in Clarina. In what was a tense and somewhat slow burning affair a draw was just about a fair result. It was not until mid way through the Second half when the game truly came to life with Both teams having chances to win but it would be fair to say that the NCW camp would be a little happier tonight.
Cappamore began the game with a breath taking move that ended with conor Sheehan rattling the back of the net.
Seamus Ryan added a point before NCW found their feet. It took another 5 minutes of play for Newcastle to bring the game level with their Full forward finding room to crash the ball for a goal and in truth the game would be level on numerous occasion throughout the game , and this was a sense of how even the 2 team were. With Cappamore Half backline on top this gave plenty of opportunities for the Cappamore Forwards, Tommy O Donoghue provides the rest of scores before the break, including a fine Point from play. But NCW were keeping themselves in the game and finished the first half 1 point down.
The second half provided more entertainment than the first with the game opening up. Tommy added a further score before NCW got back into control, going 2points up. The NCW forwards were getting a little on top before Cappamore Began to exert their presence and this proved vital for Conor Sheehan and Colin Doherty to add points, but again NCW got back on top and with a madn playing deep they carve out further chances and could have got a goal but for fine defending by the cappamore Backs. A fine effort by Andy Murphy and 2 frees for Tommy O Donoghue brought the game back Level. In-between this cappamore were reduced to 14 men with Joe O Donnell getting a second yellow.
The last few minutes saw chance for both teams, but these were not taken and the referee blew the final whistle
A draw in the end while both teams would have been looking for the opening win, a draw keeps both teams very much in the hunt.
Cappamore had fine performance thoughout the field best were Conor Sheehan, Seamus Ryan and John Ryan
