A City divisional team won a County title last weekend when Na Piarsaigh won the County under 21 premier hurling title by defeating Doon in Bruff last Saturday all the City board would like to congratulate the Na Piarsaigh club on their great victory. The opening rounds of the D.J. Daly Champion Hurley's City junior A hurling league took place last Saturday evening but two games were postponed due to clubs request the two games that took place were the meeting of Old Christians and Mungret in group (1) were the Rathbane club were the visitors and were defeated by the home team Mungret by 2-22 to 0-08 in the group (2) Game Patrickswell were entertaining Ballybrown and like the group (1) the home team claimed the points when Patrickswell ran out winners by l-15 to 2-08 this weekend round two will take place when in group (1) Old Christians will face Crecora at Rathbane and then on Monday evening St. Patrick's will open their campaign when they will host Mungret in group (2) on Saturday evening Patrickswell will take on Na Piarsaigh at Patrickswell and Ballybrown will take on Kildimo/Pallaskenry at Clarina. On this Sunday at 12noon the first of two meetings of Ballybrown and Monaleen to decided the winners of the Horse & Hound Bar Mulgrave St.
Junior B hurling league the first meeting will take place at Clarina with the second meeting taking place on Sunday 27th at Monaleen. In the past week Na Piarsaigh played catch up in the Morrison's Bar & Lounge Ballinsimon Road City junior A football league when they played two games in five days first up was the visit of Monaleen but the home side had no answer for the inform team when Monaleen ran out winners by 2-11 to 1-09 then came a second home game against Mungret on Bank holiday Monday and Na Piarsaigh made up for the lost to Monaleen and recorded a seven point victory over Mungret 4-08 to 2-07. On this Thursday evening Mungret will take on Kildimo/Pallaskenry at Mungret and following this game the semi finalist will be known. In the Patsy Nicholas Bar Gerald Griffin St. junior B football league St. Patrick's had a comfortable victory over neighbours Claughaun at Rhebogue when the home side had a ten point victory 1-10 to 0-03. In this junior B football league there are two more games left to be played before the semi finalist are known. The board would like to wish all the divisional clubs both in intermediate and senior hurling in this weekend first round of the county intermediate and senior hurling championships.
