Notes for Wednesday and Thursday 25th and 26th of January 2011

Pro Report 2011

We had two trophies this year in the club the first as mentioned below in my report was the West Senior Football Championship for the fourth year in a row.

The second one came from the Bord Na Nóg club it was the U13 Hurling Championship they defeated Knockainey on a scoreline of 3-18 to 0-01 the side were captain by Jack O'Sullivan.

West Senior Football Championship

We defeated Ballysteen in the first round on Saint Patrick's Day, on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-07 with the goals on the day coming Ray Lynch and Pat Donnelly. In the Quarter Final we defeated Mountcollins on a scoreline of 3-14 to 0-10 with the goals coming from Jason Stokes, Pat Donnelly and Micheál Reidy and this put us into the Semi-Final against Newcastle West, these rivals were going to meet again and we won on the day on a scoreline of 1-18 to 1-08 with the goal coming for Garrett Noonan to set up a final with St. Senan's. In the final we defeated St. Senan's in a great game of football played down in Fr. Casey's GAA Pitch, Abbeyfeale on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-05, the scores on the day for Dromcollogher/ Broadford were: Garrett Noonan (0-6), Micheál Reidy (0-4), Eoin Barry (0-1), Pat Donnelly (0-1) and Ray Lynch (0-1).

County Senior Football Championship

We were drawn in a group of Ballylanders, Newcastle West, St. Senan's, Ballysteen and St. Kieran's.

In the first round we lost to Ballylanders on a scoreline of 3-13 to 0-13, in the second round we lost to Newcastle West on a scoreline of 0-11 to 0-06. After the break we defeated St. Senan's, in round 3 on a scoreline of 3-14 to 0-06 with the goals coming from Micheál Reidy 2 goals and the other goal from Gary Egan. In round 4 we defeated Ballysteen on a scoreline of 1-10 to 2-05 with the goal coming from Ray Lynch and then we round 5 we defeated St. Kieran's on a scoreline of 2-12 to 2-04, with the goals coming from Jason Stokes and Ray Lynch. This puts into the Quarter final against St. Patrick's which we won a scoreline of 2-9 to 0-06 with the goals the coming from Jason Stokes and Ray Lynch to set-up a Semi-Final with our rivals Newcastle West which we lost on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-12 the scores on the day were: Micheál Reidy (0-7), Ray Lynch (1-1), Pat Donnelly (0-2) Micheál Brosnan (0-1) and Tom McLoughlin (0-1).

West Junior A Football League

We won in round 2 against Fr. Casey's on a scoreline of 3-06 to 2-08, in round 3 we lost to Glin on a scoreline of 3-13 to 0-07 and then in Semi-Final we lost to Granagh/ Ballingarry 5-13 to 0-06.

West Junior A Football Championship

We were drawn in a group of Glin, Cappagh and Castlemahon.

In round 1 we lost Glin on a scoreline of 4-16 to no score and then in round 2 we lost to Cappagh on a scoreline of 3-11 to 0-09, we also lost to Castlemahon in round 3 on a scoreline of 2-16 to 1-02.

County Junior Hurling League

In round 2 we defeated Fedamore, on a scoreline of 2-18 to 0-15, in round 3 we defeated Crecora on a scoreline of 4-11 to 1-05, in round 4 we lost to Castletown/ Ballyagran on a scoreline of 0-17 to 0-13 and in Round 5 we lost to Staker Wallace on a scoreline of 3-16 to 3-14. In round 6 we lost to Croagh/ Kilfinny on a scoreline of 3-13 to 1-10 and we got a walkover from Old Christians in the last round.

West Junior A Hurling Championship

We were drawn in a group of Askeaton, Croagh/ Kilfinny Adare and Templeglantine.

We won against Askeaton in round 1 on a scoreline of 1-19 to 1-11 and in round 2 we lost Croagh/ Kilfinny, on a scoreline of 3-13 to 1-10. In round 4 got a walkover from Adare and then in the final round we defeated Templeglantine on a scoreline of 6-12 to 1-13, with two goals coming from Ray Lynch, the other goals came from Keith Lacey, Paul Madigan, John Madigan and Micheál Reidy. In the Quarter Final we defeated Feenagh/ Kilmeedy 2-18 to 1-13 with the goals coming from Ray Lynch and then in the Semi-Final we defeated Tournafulla on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-11 with the goal coming from Ray Lynch and then in the final we lost to Feoghanagh on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-08.

County Junior A Hurling Championship

We won in the Quarter Final after a replay on the first day we drew with Doon on a scoreline of 11 points apiece and then in the replay we won on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-08 with the goal coming from James Hartnett and then in the Semi-Final we lost to Kilmallock on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-08 with the scores on the day coming from Keith Lacey (0-4), Jimmy Kiely (0-2), Garrett Noonan (0-1) and Ray Lynch (0-1).

West Intermediate Hurling Championship

In Round 1 we lost to St. Mary's/ Sean Finn's on a scoreline of 1-15 to 1-09 with the goal on the day coming from Jimmy Kiely and then in the Quarter Final we lost to Monagea on a scoreline of 1-16 to 2-12 with the two goals coming from Ray Lynch.

West Junior B Hurling League

In round 1 we lost to Tournafulla on a scoreline of 1-14 to 2-5, in round 2 we defeated Newcastle West on a scoreline of 1-15 to 1-08 and in round 3 lost by Feoghanagh 0-19 to 0-11.

West Junior B Hurling Championship

We were drawn in a group of Askeaton, Granagh/ Ballingarry, St. Kieran's and Knockaderry.

After getting a walkover from Askeaton in round 1, we lost to Granagh/ Ballingarry in round 2 on a scoreline of 0-9 to 0-8. In the last two rounds we gave two walkovers to St. Kieran's and Knockaderry.

U21 West B Hurling Championship

We defeated St. Kieran's in round 1 on scoreline of 1-15 to 1-07 with the goal coming from Keith Lacey, in round 4 we lost to Granagh/ Ballingarry on a scoreline of 1-9 to 0-4. In round 5 we received a walkover from Askeaton. We lost the semi-final to Killeedy on a scoreline 1-14 to 1-11, with scores on the day were: Keith Lacey (1-6), Daniel Collins 2 points, Timmy O'Carroll and Micheál Brosnan a point each.

U21 West A and B Football Championship

We were drawn in a group of Monagea, Cappagh, Sean Finn's and Adare.

We defeated Monagea in round 1 on a scoreline of 0-11 to 2-3. In round 2 we defeated Cappagh on a scoreline of 5-14 to 0-01, with the goals coming from Micheál Brosnan, Kevin Noonan, Naill O'Brien, Darren Sweeney and Thomas Fitzgerald. In round 4 we lost to St. Mary's/ Sean Finn's on a scoreline of 1-16 to 1-12 this was a game of two halves at half-time St. Mary's/ Sean Finn's lead by 1-10 to 0-05 then in the second half we scored 1-7 to St. Mary's/ Sean Finn's 6 points but we still lost by four points on the day with the goal coming from Kevin Noonan. In round 5 we got defeated Adare on a scoreline of 1-10 to 2-06, Micheál Brosnan scored a goal to bring sides back on level terms and then Colm Meaney scored the winning point to put into A Semi-Final against Feale Rangers. In the Semi-Final we lost to Feale Rangers by 2-13 to 1-07 the scoreline does not reflect the game with the goal on the day coming from Micheál Brosnan.

West Minor A and B Football Championship

In round 1 we lost to Feale Rangers on a scoreline of 2-7 to 0-7. In round 2 we defeated Shannon Gaels on a scoreline of 3-7 to 0-7 with two goals coming from Jimmy Kiely and the other goal from Daniel Collins. In round 3 we defeated Adare on a scoreline of 0-14 to 2-05. In Round 4 we lost to St. Mary's/ Sean Finn's on a scoreline of 1-16 to 3-06, with two goals coming from Thomas Fitzgerald and the other goal from Jimmy Kiely. In Round 5 we received a walkover from Na Fianna and then in round 6 we lost to Cois Sionna Gaels on a scoreline of 3-14 to 4-3, with two goals coming from Thomas Fitzgerald and the other goals came from Cillian Fahy and Richard O'Shaughnessy. In the final round we lost to Newcastle West on a scoreline of 3-08 to 1-11 with the goal coming from Thomas Fitzgerald. We qualified for the B Semi-Final but lost on the day to St. Mary's/ Sean Finn's on a scoreline of 2-11 to 0-09 with the scores on the day were: Daniel Collins (0-2), James O'Brien (0-2), Thomas Fitzgerald (0-2), Naill O'Brien (0-1), Damien Lacey (0-1) and Shane Sweeney (0-1).

West Minor A and B Hurling Championship

We lost in round 2 to Allaghaun Gaels on a scoreline of 3-8 to 1-8, with the goal coming from Jimmy Kiely. Then in round 3 we lost to Na Fianna on a scoreline of 1-15 to 1-08 with the goal coming from Jimmy Kiely. In round 5 we lost to a walkover Allaghaun Gaels on a scoreline of 4-17 to 0-08. We qualified for the B Semi-Final but lost on the day to Na Fianna on a scoreline of 4-20 to 1-2 with the scorer on the day was Damien Lacey (1-2).

County Teams

This year we a lot of players on county teams, from the club, Seanie Buckley and Tommy Stack were part of the Limerick Senior Football panel Seanie Buckley and Tommy Stack played every game for the year they lost to Kerry in the Munster Semi-Final. In the qualifiers they beat Offaly, Waterford and Wexford and lost to Kerry in the Quarter Final of the All-Ireland. We had two on the Limerick Junior Footballers panel Garrett Noonan and Ray Lynch lost to Kerry, in the Munster Semi-Final. Naill O'Brien was the goalkeeper for U17 Limerick Team that won the All-Ireland during the year. For this year the following players are on county panels at the moment Senior Football Seanie Buckley and Eoin Barry, U21 Football Micheál Brosnan, Minor Football Darren Boyce and Naill O'Brien.

Seamus Brosnan, Patrick Stack, Paddy Lordan, Naill O'Brien and Darren Boyce were members of the Limerick VEC Football Team that lost to Kerry the B Munster Football VEC Final.

Non-Stop Draw

There is still an opportunity to join the local G.A.A. Club Draw. If any one wishes to do so and also please pay your promoter by Wednesday January 25th, to be with a chance in the Draw. The fifth draw will take place on Friday January 27th, in Begley's Bar, Broadford, at 9pm sharp and they will be also a table quiz and raffle on the night in aid of the Crèche in Broadford and also the fifth round of the Dromcollogher/ Broadford GAA xfactor will be held on the night.
