Na Piarsaigh club notes

August 31, 2010
Our Intermediate footballers bowed out of this year's championsip in glory as they scored a 3-7 to 0-12 win over last years Junior Champions, Mountcollins last Sunday evening in Newcastle West. Aaron Costelloe converted two second half penalties to secure the victory but unfortunately, Mungret eased past us into the quarter finals because despite finishing level on points and with a better score difference, Mungret beat us in the head to head. The earlier narrow losses to Cappamore and Mungret cost us dearly. It was great to see Eoin Hogan making a return to football last Sunday evening after a very length lay off.

Our Minor footballers have reached the City Final of the football championship with a resounding 4-16 to Moanaleen's 3-9 in a 2nd position play-off and will now meet St. Patricks in the final. Leading 3-6 to 2-5 at half time, we pulled away in the 2nd half, the highlight was an Alan Finegan point after he came the lenght of the field to score from corner back position. The team under Seoirse Laffan have been working away quietly and have improved immensly since the start of the season.
