A Chairde,
Our U14 footballers defeated South Liberties in the Championship playoff round
on last Tuesday evening by 6-07 to 5-08, a great display by ours lads in what was
a very competitive and high scoring game. We now progress to play our fellow
parish side St.Patricks tonight, Mon 23/Aug, in Rhebogue in the County quarter
final @ 7pm - come out and cheer on the boys!!
On Tue 17/Aug, In the MHC at home, we came up against a very strong Adare
team who ran out very deserving winners on the night.
Last Fri 20/Aug, saw our u10 footballers involved in a blitz in a very well organised
Mungret club. We were joined by the host club, Adare & Na Piarsaigh in what proved
to be an excellent outing enjoyed by all teams.
Our senior footballers came out second best to Drom/Broadford in the second match
of the double header in Kilmallock last Sat evening on a scoreline of 0-9 to 0-4.
Our remaining game v Ballysteen in on next Sat in Clarina @ 6.45pm, with one eye
focused on the Monaleen v St.Patricks game being held in Childers Road at the
same time. The outcome of these two games will determine who holds up Group 1
of the SFC.
Last evening, Sun 22/Aug, our Minor footballers defeated Fr. Caseys by 2pts in Childers
Road on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-11. Despite being down by 4pts at half time, 1-7 to 0-6,
we raised our performance from the restart scoring 1-4 without reply and ran our winners
by 2pts at the final whistle. Team as follows: Stephen McNamara, Eoin O'Brien, Garreth Kennedy, Gerry Butler, Robbie Hannan, Jack Molyneaux, Johnny McNamara,
Aaron Cooney(0-1), Mark O'Toole, Gary O'Connor(0-1), Rory Collins, Carl Turner, Cian Byrnes(1-2), Derek Hanlon(0-8, 5f), Lee O'Mara(0-1). Evan Campion, Matthew Graham,
Darragh Ryan.
The club are currently running a raffle for 2 All-Ireland Hurling tickets + €350 spending
money, tickets are €5 per line and can be obtained from any club member or at the
club bar, draw takes places on Monday 30/Aug @ 10pm, all support is greatly
appreciated.
Congratulations to all those who received their Leaving Cert results last week.
The club extends its deepest sympathies to the family of the late Paddy Lipper, his wife Josie,
son Sean, who's son Jason plays u12 with us, daughter Patricia, many relatives & friends.
