St. Patrick's Club Notes

August 18, 2010
Mixed results for our junior hurlers last weekend when we played two games in three days in the City junior A hurling championship but with the management team looking for 100% from our team in the championship league this season, but playing the two games caught us specially in the second game. On Thursday evening we took Patrickswell at Clarina and kept our unbeaten record going with a 1-16 to 1-05 victory. Leading by 1-05 to 0-05 at the half time break with Padraig Reale with our goal just before the break our full forward Colin Earls opened out account on the day with a point from play Brendan Mullins added three points from frees and just before our only goal of the game Patrick Mullins also hit a point from play. In the second half our young guns keep out in great form and not alone were our forwards in great form but our backs played their best game so far in the championship but not until three minutes into added time the Patrickswell team hit their only score with a goal from play we opened the second half in flying form when Patrick Mullins with two Brendan Mullins with five and Colin Earls point had us 1-12 to 0-05 after fifteen minutes Patrick Mullins and younger brother Brendan added three more points and Colin Earls added two to leave us 1-16 to 0-05 before Patrickswell got their goal with their only score of the second half. This victory was now enough to put us into the semi final of the championship with still two games to be played. Then on Saturday evening last with went to Cahirdavin with a experimental side we took on last year's City winners Old Christians our first score of the game came from Patrick Mullins and it was not until the twenty second minute we got our second score when centre back Wayne Cronin added from play Brendan Mullins added two points from free the leave us three points behind at the break 0-04 to 0-07. In the second half our experimental side came more into the match and were level after four minutes into the game when Wayne Cronin hit two more points and was followed by Patrick Mullins point we again let the Old Christians side to get ahead when we found ourselves three points behind again but once again we leveled when the Mullins act came into play Patrick with one and Brendan with two had us at 0-10 apiece. Going into the last ten minutes and again we fell behind when we let in a goal. With now only ten minutes left our legs begin to tire and fell five points behind but Brendan Mullins added two points with Colin Earls also hitting a point but time was running out and we were still 1-16 to 0-14 behind and missed a lot of chances but when Patrick Mullins hit the Old Christians net the recovery was too late to leave the final score at 1-16 to 1-14 we now have just one game left against Na Piarsaigh and then the real work will began to try and win the City championship. Many thanks to all the panel of players and management for their commitment over the last week and we now look to our senior footballers this weekend when we will take on St. Kieran's in Kilmallock on this Saturday evening at 5pm in the county senior football championship. Manager Kieran Dore will look to his panel of players to look for their victory this Saturday in our first year at senior championship support for this game will be welcomed from all at the club. This week just gone the Clubs hurling & football Cúl Camp will took place at Rhebogue between Monday and Friday from 10am to 2.30pm our young lads were treated with plenty of hurling and football skills and it was great to see the big turnout for the week 50% up on last seasons Cúl camp, many thanks to the coaches for looking after the young players for the week and to the players themselves for been so good all week. The Cúl camp was open to Primary school Children aged between 7years to 13years and many thanks to our own Christopher Mortell and Colm O Brien who organise the event weeks before the camp date. This weekend our minor footballers are home to Monaleen in the City minor championship throw in time is at 7.15pm then on Saturday our under 16 hurlers will travel to Bruff for a 3pm throw in in the County championship.

Thanking You
