Patrickswell GAA Notes

March 15, 2010
Patrickswell edged out Croom in a very competitive semi-final of the Michael O'Brien trophy. The match was finely balanced in the opening stages, before Patrickswell notched a goal to establish a convincing 1-3 to 0-1 lead. Croom were very resilient and managed to turn the tide with seven unanswered points. The interval score was 0-8 to 1-3 to the visitors. The second half started with a flurry of points from the ‘Well but Ballybrown remained in contention after they converted a penalty. The teams exchanged points for the remainder of the match and Patrickswell emerged as narrow 1-14 to 1-13 winners. Patrickswell will face parish neighbours Ballybrown in the final on Sunday 21st March at 12 noon. It promises to be a very entertaining tussle between two committed teams. The senior hurlers face the Under 21s in a challenge match on St. Patrick's Day at 12 noon. Many thanks to the operators of the club shop, who have been providing refreshments to spectators on match days. Your commitment is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Ard Scoil Ris and its Patrickswell contingent who won the Dr. Harty Cup against Thurles CBS last week. In their epic third encounter in Nenagh, the Ard Scoil Ris boys made no mistake and triumphed by ten points. It is a superb achievement and Limerick's first success since 1993. Best of luck in the All-Ireland semi-final and beyond from everyone in Patrickswell GAA Club.
