Na Piarsaigh, Limerick Club Notes
March 12, 2010
Once again, we commend Ardscoil Ris senior hurlers whose never say die attitude sees them into a 2nd replay of the Dr Harty Cup final after an absolute classic encounter with Thurles CBS. Alan Dempsey, Adrian Breen, Mark Ryan, Shane Dowling, Kevin Downes all started for Ardscoil with Ciaran Keogh introduced. Mark Ryan contributed 1-1 to the scoreline with Shane Dowling (0-2), and Kevin Downes (0-1) also on the scoresheet. We wish the boys and Ardscoil Ris the very best in the 2nd replay which takes place this Thursday March 11th in Nenagh at 2:30pm.
Also congratulations to Padraig Kennedy who was deputy keeper in the NUIG Fitzgibbon winning cup team last weekend.
Best wishes to Maurice Horan and the Limerick U/21 footballers as they take on Clare this Wednesday evening in the Gaelic Grounds under lights. Maurice becomes the first club member to manage a county squad since Timmy O'Connor managed the minor hurlers all the way to the All-Ireland final in 2005.
Our Adult preentation took place last Friday when the Senior Hurlers and Intermediate Footballers received their medals. The Senior hurlers received their 2nd in a row City Championship medals and Co. runners up medals and the Footballers received their All County League Div 2 winners medals
Under 14 feile footballers bowed out of the Feile Peil na nOg campaign in Knocklong last weekend on a scoreline of 5-8 to 2-4 to a strong Galbally side who were physically the more dominant over a young Na Piarsaigh team. First half was a tight affair and Na Piarsaigh were well in to game going into half time only a point down 2-3 to 2-2 following some good work in defence from Shane Fenton and Michael Andrews and good forward play that yielded goals from Peter Casey and Neil Wallace up front. The second half belonged to the home side despite some good work from Kieran Daly and Evan O'Brien , Na Piarsaigh just couldnt find the power to break down the Galbally defence. Na Piarsaigh Scorers Peter Casey 1-1, Neil Wallace 1-0 , Kieran Daly 0-2 (0-1f), Thomas Grimes 0-1.
Our Feile na nGael U/14 hurlers are in action in the first round next weekend against Crecora with the game at the moment fixed for 11am on Sunday March 14th, however, this maybe brought forward to Saturday evening. See website for updated details. The team will also play Doora-Barefield in a challenge this Thursday evening in Barefield.
