Lenihan rejects players' accusations

March 12, 2010
Limerick County Board chairman Liam Lenihan has strongly rejected the latest accusations from the exiled players.

The players issued a statement saying that members of the County Board and Justin McCarthy's management team tried to pressurise them into returning to the intercounty fold, but Lenihan says the County Board played no part in any such behaviour:

"I asked every member of the executive did any one of them ring up players or intimidate them in any way or did they try to pressurise one player against another and they said 'No'.

"I can only speak for myself and I didn't do it - but all the others said that they didn't do it either. They said they never pressurised any player into coming back.

"I didn't question any of the management team individually, or the backroom team."
