Patrickswell GAA Notes

February 22, 2010
The launch and semi-final draw for the Michael O Brien Senior Hurling Trophy will take place in the Cu Chulainn on Thursday 25th February at 9pm.  All club members are invited to attend.  Please extend a warm Patrickswell welcome to representatives of the other clubs.

Patrickswell GAA wishes the best of luck to its young members on the Ard Scoil Ris team in the Harty Cup final on Sunday 28th February in Nenagh.  The players included are Sean O Brien (captain), Mark Carmody, Kelvin Lynch, Kevin O Brien, Jack Kelleher, Dean Cawley and their selector Natal O Grady.  Patrickswell were strongly represented on the last occasion that a Limerick side won the Harty Cup.  In 1993, Sexton Street CBS fielded Natal O Grady, Barry Foley, Alan Purcell, Pat Earls, Michael Foley and John O Donnell - who scored the crucial winning goal in the final.  The club is confident that Ard Scoil Ris can emulate the 1993 team and that our Well boys can make a telling contribution.  We were delighted to make our facilities available to Ard Scoil Ris on a  number of occasions this year.

Last Saturday week, the 2009 Junior B City Hurling League winning medals were presented to the players at a very successful function in the Dark Horse.  Many thanks to Joe Lynch and Pa Buston for organising this event in conjunction with Fergus Kilcoyne.  The Senior Hurlers have their first outing this year with a challenge match on Saturday 27th February against the Limerick Senior Hurling Development Squad.  The venue is Pairc Antoin O Briain at 4.30pm.  Congratulations to clubmen Oliver Mann (Liaison Officer) and John Tuohy (selector) who have been appointed to work with the Limerick Senior Hurling Development squad for 2010.

The much-anticipated Nob Nation and Free Beer gig is almost here!!  Tickets for the event on Thursday 4th March at 8pm can be purchased from The Woodlands Hotel reception or any Committee Member.  Sellers are requested to make a final push to ensure a strong attendance at The Woodlands.  The night promises an enjoyable mix of laughs and music.

If you want to receive the club s text messages, please send an SMS with your name and mobile phone number to 087-1448721.  Managers and selectors are asked to provide 24 hours notice for messages to be sent out.  Key points are the match date, time, opposition and venue plus the meeting place and time.  The first Mackey Draw of the year is Friday 5th March.  Please settle your subscription with a local agent to guarantee inclusion.  Patrickswell club membership closes on 31st March 2010.  Failure to pay the annual membership means that you are ineligible to vote in club matters.  Please pay the subscription at the earliest convenience.
