City GAA Board Notes

Last Tuesday evening the board held a very successful convention at the Woodfield House Hotel Ennis Road the following officers were returned for 2010. President: John Clifford, Chairman: Paddy Verdon, Treasurer: Jim Riordan, Ass- Treasurer: Ger O Dowd, Secretary: Eamonn Phelan, Ass-Secretary: Trevor Mann and P.R.O.: Eamonn Phelan. More details on the convention will appear in next week's notes. Congratulations to Ballybrown who got over Bruff by 1-12 to 2-08 in the County semi final at Claughaun They had good performances from James Hall, Kyle Loftus, Brian Quinn, James Garvey, Mark Sheehan, Eoin Kiely, Shane Kenny and Michael Kiely. Ballybrown will now face either Kilmallock or Doon in this year's County under 21 A hurling final while in the quarter final replay City championship winners Patrickswell failed in their bid to reach the semi final against Doon at Knocklong when they were second best, going down by five points. Killulta Gaels (Pallkenry/Kildimo) were defeated by six points 1-11 to 0-09 by Naomh Sean (Hospital/Herbertstown and Kilteely/Dromkeen) in the County Un. 21 B hurling championship final in Ballyagran last Sunday evening. Killulta Gaels were behind by three points at the half time break 0-04 to 0-07.  lined out as James Carey, Mossy Sheehan, Can Hayes, Shane O'Brien, Ronan Liston, Eoin O'Brien (Capt), Bryan O'Shea, S©amus McKeogh (0-01), Darren Walsh (P), Ruairi Maher, Stephen McKeogh (0-06), Shane Hayes, William Griffin (0-01), Darren Walsh (0-01), Chris McKenna. Subs: Tommy Brett, David Keating, Eoghan Keating, Aidan Lunn, Chris McMahon, Shane Griffin and Ciar°n Ryan. Well done to St. Patrick's under 15 hurler Jason Mullins who won the County under 15 hurling of the year award. Jason was the only City divisional player to win a board nOg award on their annual awards night at the Woodlands Hotel last weekend. The board would like to congratulate City referee Declan O Driscoll of Ballinacurra Gaels on a good game last Sunday, Declan was the man in the middle in last Sunday Munster Senior Club championship final in Thurles. Congratulations also to Tom McGarry of Treaty Sarsfields who on this Saturday evening in Lawlor's Hotel in Dungarvan will be presented with the Munster Special Merit Award at the Munster G.A.A. Gala Banquet Awards night for his achievements throughout his playing days in Hurling, Football and Handball.
