Patrickswell GAA Notes

10 November 2009

The Under 14 footballers lost their County Championship Final to Adare at Rathkeale. Both teams endured atrocious weather conditions, which tested the stamina of every player.  Adare were quicker to settle on the heavy pitch and they controlled the match from the outset.  At half-time, Adare led the Well by four points.  Patrickswell began to notch more scores in the second half, but their opponents held a comfortable lead that was never in doubt.  Hard luck to the players and management.  Great credit is due for reaching a County Final.

The Under 21 hurlers recorded a vital 2-13 to 1-10 victory over Na Piarsaigh in the City Championship.  The result puts the Well in a strong position to qualify for the City Final and a subsequent place in the County quarter-final.

Patrickswell were honoured with places on the Hurling Team of the Last 25 Years at the County Board s Gala Event.  Leonard Enright was selected at full-back, Ciaran Carey at centre-back and Garry Kirby at centre-forward.  Ciaran was also honoured as Best Hurler of the Last 25 Years on the evening.  Well done to Pa Foley, Barry Foley and Brian Murray who received nominations to the shortlist.

The club had a number of winners in the recent Limerick Development Draw.  Paula & Ger McNamara and Aedin & Des Foley scooped ¬250, while David Punch won ¬200 in the bonus draw.  The next draw is on Friday 4th December at the Yellowtown Bar in Manister.
