Galvin cites midfield battle as key

Limerick's John Galvin
Limerick's John Galvin feels this Sunday's Munster SFC final could well come down to which side wins the most breaks around the centre of the field. Galvin is confident ahead of the provincial decider, but the Treaty midfielder also knows that he and his team mates face a tough task against the likes of Nicholas Murphy and Pierce O'Neill. "I suppose, the truth is that most games are won or lost in the middle of the field or between the two '65's so we have to try and gain as much possession as we can," said Galvin. "They have a big midfield and we have a big midfield and they have Pierce O'Neill at centre-forward and with all that what tends to happen is that there is not a whole lot of ball caught and it is breaking ball. "The next day will depend on how many breaks we pick up - we have to be 50/50 at worst." The closest Galvin has ever come to tasting Munster glory was back in 2004, when the Treaty men reached the provincial decider only to lose out to Kerry after a replay. "I am five years training for this," said Galvin. "After the 2004 final I thought I would never play football again, I was so gutted - I had put so much into it. "Looking back I would still be disappointed at not winning it five years ago, but I don't want to be raking that into the game on Sunday."
