Ryan explains legal action

Former Limerick and Westmeath manager Tom Ryan
Limerick hurling manager candidate Tom Ryan has explained his reasons for forwarding a solicitor's letter to the County Board over the process of selecting a new hurling manager for the Treaty County.
The former Limerick manager is not satisfied with the make-up of the seven-man interview panel which has been appointed to appoint Richie Bennis' successor, and therefore decided on legal action to try and change its members, while not ruling out going as far as the High Courts.
"Three of the interview panel have people nominated from their clubs and the make-up of the panel is unfair. I would feel compromised by their presence, and I have notified my solicitors," said Ryan.
"I notified the County Board and looked from a response from them by 5pm on Monday.
"They responded and met later that night but I haven't heard anything since. It's in the public domain now and I'm contesting this on the grounds that it's a conflict of natural justice.
"What I'm looking for is a new interview panel to be picked and people on this panel cannot have somebody nominated for the Limerick job from their own club. I'll take this issue as far as it will be taken. I'll be going to the High Court for a injunction if necessary," he added.
The seven-man panel consists of County Board chairman Liam Lenihan, secretary Mike O'Riordan, treasurer Owen Hayes and a representative from each division in the county - Oliver Mann (Patrickswell), Jim Dooley (Garryspillane), Louis Quirke (Ahane) and Jimmy Stapleton (Granagh-Ballingarry).
