Ahane Club Notes

Last week the County Hurling & Football Development plan was launched by the County Board and proposes fundamental changes to underage structures at Club and County level for players aged 6 to 17. This Thursday night, Ahane G.A.A. Club will hold an open discussion forum to discuss these proprosals and a member of the County Board Development group will attend. This will be of particular interest to all parents, coaches and mentors of our Club underage teams and an open invitation is extended to all interested parties. All roads lead to Croagh on this Saturday, 6th September as Ahane play Killeedy in the Senior County Championship final. Ahane played Grangagh/Ballingarry in the semi-final and won on a scoreline of 3-7 to 0-13. Mentors: Kay Lee (Manager), Phelim Macken (Trainer), Ger Greaney, Kathleen Coffey. All support would be greatly appreciated. The August Club Lotto draw was held last Saturday night. Matt Whelan, Gardenhill. Ahane Junior hurlers will play Doon in the P.J. Matthews East Junior A Hurling final which will be played this weekend. Please check date & venue with Club Secretary. The girls Minor Football team have qualified to play Athea in the the County Minor Final. This is a fantastic achievement for the girls as this is the first year entering a team at Minor level. On their path to the final they beat Oola 5.12 to 3.9 and in the semi-final beat Croom 5.7 to 4.8. Date for final not yet fixed.
