McCarthy surprised at Limerick interest
August 28, 2008
Ex-Waterford senior hurling boss Justin McCarthy has revealed his surprise with being nominated for the currently vacant Limerick job.
McCarthy, who has not ruled himself out of running for the job, admitted that he had known nothing about his nomination from the Camogue Rovers club at Tuesday night's Limerick County Board meeting
"Nobody contacted me," said McCarthy. "A fella said it to me but I gave permission to nobody to put my name forward. I don't even know who nominated me."
When asked if he would consider taking the position of it came his way, the former Deise boss said: "I haven't though about that. It's another day's work."
McCarthy was infamously axed from the Waterford job this summer after the Deise's early exit from the Munster SHC. He is now considered to be one of the front-runners on the list to replace Richie Bennis, along with Pat Fleury and Tony Considine.
