August 27, 2008

Tony Considine
Tony Considine and Justin McCarthy are among a list of 10 nominations for the Limerick senior hurling manager's post.
Former Clare boss Considine was nominated by the Garryspillane club, who he guided to a county senior hurling title in 2005, while McCarthy, who was forced to step down as Waterford manager following their Munster championship loss to Clare in June, has been nominated by the Camogue Rovers club.
Outgoing manager Richie Bennis remains in the running for a reappointment after been nominated by his club Patrickswell, while fellow Patrickswell man Ciaran Carey, who managed the Limerick under 21s this year, was nominated by the Hospital-Herbertstown club.
Other Limerick candidates for the job are current intermediate manager Jerry Molyneaux, Brian Ryan and former county player Pat Herbert. Tom Ryan, who guided Limerick to All-Ireland final appearances in 1994 and '96, has received a nomination from his club Ballybrown, while former Offaly manager and captain Pat Fleury, who teaches in Limerick city, and former Kerry manager Eddie Murphy are also in the running.
The list of nominations was announced at a specially convened county board meeting last night and represents the first step in the process of appointing the new manager. Interviews will be conducted by a sub-committee consisting of chairman Liam Lenihan, secretary Mike O'Riordan, treasurer Owen Hayes and four club delegates in the coming weeks.
