Junior-B Hurlers ready for West Final: Training continues for the Jun. B. Hurlers as they prepare for the West Final in Knockaderry on Fri. 29th Aug. at 6.30pm. We wish every success to our gallant players and their backroom team of Pat Donovan, Mike O'Sullivan and Thos O'Connor in the West Final, which will be played against our neighbouring club Granagh/Ballingarry. This time last year our Jun. B Hurlers won this competition when they overcame Templeglantine in a tight contest. Come along to Knockaderry on Sat. evening and cheer on our team. Junior A Football, so close but yet so far away: Our lads played in the West Quarter Final against Feoghanagh/Castlemahon on Sat 23rd Aug. in Feenagh at 6.30pm. This was a very tight game from the throw-in. Both teams were level at full-time with our score of 0:12 to the 1:09 for the opposition. As extra time was being played, it was clear that both sides were hungry for victory. The sides remained level at the half-way stage of extra-time. It was in the final five minutes of extra-time when we were up a single point, that Feoghanagh/ Castlemahon got the lucky break that ended in a goal. This goal scuttled our chances and they went on to score two more points as time was running out. The final score read 0:15 for Sean Finn's to 2:13 for Feoghanagh/Castlemahon. The panel on the night was as follows: Ollie Burns, Brian Duggan, Gary Enright, Donal Garvey, Patrick Sheahan, Sean O'Shea, James Dalton, Eoghan O'Connor, Keith Hartnett, Timmy Hogan, Mark O'Sullivan, Timmy O'Connor, Thomas Walsh, Gus Ryan & Alan O'Shea. Substitutes on the night were Sean White & Robert White. Many thanks to Mike Barrett, Pat Neville and Gus Ryan who showed great commitment to our team. Injuries carried by key players were a factor in our loss, but all of the team can take heart from running so close to the victors. We can be optimistic for future competitions as we have a good core of players and hopefully we will build on the experience. U14's Hurling: These new West Hurling Champions under the guidance of Brian Wilmott now have a County semi-final to look forward to. Training will continue as usual this week. Minor Football We exited the Minor Football competition prematurely last week due to lack of numbers to don the Sean Finn's Jerseys for our final games of the group. This is a huge disappointment to the players who have made themselves available come-what-may and to the management duo of Barry Dillon and Pat Sheahan who have shown great commitment throughout the season. Congratulations & Best Wishes: Heartiest congratulations to Rathkeale Community Games members and their team managements on their huge successes in the National Finals at Mosney over the last two weekends. It is a great honour to have so many All-Ireland medals in our midst and we salute you all on your success. Best wishes to Limerick Intermediate Hurlers in their quest for glory in the All-Ireland Final. Well done to Jerry Molyneaux on their achievement so far this year. Limerick Hurling needs a boost and hopefully this will be the team to bring home the silverware. Western Gaels Best wishes to Jerry Molyneaux and all involved in Western Gaels in their quest for glory in the county senior hurling championship. This team has provided a huge opportunity to players from Junior Clubs to play in the Senior Championship and they have played with distinction against strong teams. They now prepare for the Co. Quarter Final and we are delighted to have two players from St. Mary's -Damien Quaid and Mark O'Sullivan on the panel.
