JUNIOR HURLERS REMAIN ON COURSE FOR 3 IN A ROW CITY TITLES
CITY JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL
PALLASKENRY 6-22 PATRICKSWELL 0-02.
A fine all round team performance kept us on course for three in row city junior b hurling championships last Saturday as we were convincing winners against Patrickswell on a scoreline of 6-22 to 0-02. Played in Rathbane in ever deteriorating conditions, the crisp clean hurling played by Pallaskenry shows that a step up to Junior A beckons and would not be beyond us. Kenny Rogers started well with a quick free and then goaled following good work by Adrian Enright. Rogers pointed again before Adrian Enright got in on the act with 1-2 of his own, the goal coming from a quick reaction to a rebound from the upright. Aside from an early pointed free Patrickswell were run ragged as they failed to keep pace with the quick movement of the Pallaskenry half backs and midfield who supplied quality ball for the inside forwards to exploit. Willie Lynch got in on the act after fifteen minutes with a goal and two minutes later set up Adrian Enright for his second and Pallaskenry's fourth. This direct tactic worked a treat with the forwards contributing 4-8 (4-6 from play) in the first twenty points. There was no let up as half time approached with Shane Loftus, Simon Guerin & Kevin Taylor all adding points and the defence holding firm with Mike Roche in particular cutting off any attacks by Patrickswell. Pallaskenry led by 5-16 to 0-1 at half time with Ollie O'Regan adding the fifth goal as the wind and rain made conditions worse.
Patrickswell doubled their score on the resumption but normal order was quickly restored with Ollie O'Regan, Shane Loftus & Kenny Rogers (2) adding points to extend the lead. With the game over as a contest a glut of substitutions followed and the game petered out to the inevitable conclusion. Ian Gibbs added a couple of points before intelligent play by Daniel Hannon found Damien O'Brien in space and he made no mistake to finish off the scoring with a goal. Once again we qualify for the City Final against either Crecora or Claughaun who drew their semi final, 4-07 to 3-10, and must replay.
Team: S Downey, M Sheehan, A Guerin, M Roche, J O'Connell, B O'Shea, P O'Connell, E O'Brien, S Loftus (0-3), K Taylor (0-1), S Guerin (0-1), K Rogers (1-8, (0-2 f)), A Enright (2-2), W Lynch (1-3), O O'Regan (1-2). CITY MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL
CLAUGHAUN 0-12 KILLULTA GAELS 3-10.
With three teams finishing level after the group stage a play off was required to decide the finalists of the minor football championship and so first up Killulta Gaels travelled to the Childers Road to take on the home team Claughaun with the winners guaranteed a final place. It was a slow start with both teams showing nerves before Claughaun hit two points to lead after ten minutes. Shane O'Brien hit Killulta's first point from a free before Ciaran Ryan quickly added another point to draw the teams level. From the kick out Killulta won possession and Eoin Keating broke through to set up Peter Nash who side stepped the last defender before rifling the ball to the far corner of the net. Shane O'Brien added a point and in the space of five minutes Killulta had opened up a four point lead. But Claughaun seemed to own the ball for the last ten minutes as they tied the game up with some good attacking play. Kenneth Buckley had Killulta's sole reply as the teams ended level at half time, 0-07 to 1-4.
Both teams started the second half well with two points from Claughaun helping them into a lead after Shane O'Brien had pointed a free in the opening minute. But the next fifteen minutes belonged to Killulta as the pace of the game changed with Seamus McKeogh at half back and Daniel Hannon in midfield driving their team on. Ciaran Ryan goaled following good work by Ian Moore & Hannon which was quickly followed by a point from Peter Nash who caused his marker no end of problems. Then came the killer blow for Claughaun with a third goal for Kilulta Gaels from James Carey. The move began in defence with Lorcan Fitz off loading to the efficient Mike Delap who found Ian Moore in space and he shook off two tackles to pass to Carey who finished well while surrounded by defenders. This gave Moore more confidence and he added two points as Killulta led by eight points with ten minutes to go. Killulta made a number of substitutions as Claughaun reduced the lead with a couple of points before Peter Nash and Daniel Hannon ensured a comfortable passage through to the final for Killulta. There they await the winners of the second play off match between Claughaun & Na Piarsaigh.

CITY U13 HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION C
NA PIARSAIGH B 2-7 PALLASKENRY 2-0.
Pallas got off to a bad start in the City U13 Hurling League losing out to a strong Na Piarsaigh team. We played against the wind in the first half and it was very hard to move the ball forward. Na Piarsaigh made the most of the conditions and scored 2-6 in the opening twenty minutes as we failed to register a score. We faced an uphill battle in the second half but scored two goals through Ross Mann & Darren O'Connell. Unfortunately it wasn't enough as Na Piarsaigh held on to win.
Team: David Clarke, Cian Moloney, Sean Holland, Harley Moloney, Jason Barry, James Fitzgerald, Ross Mann (1-0), Gary Maher, Darren O'Connell (1-0), Richard Downes, Ryan Kelly, Christopher Leahy, Carl Healy, Evin Creed, Evin Maher.
CITY U15 HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION B
OLD CHRISTIANS 1-1 PALLASKENRY 2-3.
Pallas started the City U15 Hurling League with a fine win on last Monday evening away to Old Christians in Rathbane. Martin Nunan was first off the mark for us with a goal after five minutes. Old Christians answered back with a goal of their own before Martin Nunan added two points to leave us ahead at half time.
The second half was very tight with some great battles all over the field. Darragh Walshe scored our second goal to give us a bit of breathing space and late on Johnny Nash added a point to ensure victory. We had good displays from Paul Clarke, Micheal Keating, Dean Corrigan, John Sheehan, Martin Nunan, Darragh Walshe, Niall Maher, Ciaran O'Brien & Eoin Cuddihy and thanks to Eamonn Phelan for refereeing.
