Ahane Notes
August 25, 2008
In the East Junior A Hurling semi-final, Ahane beat Kilteely/Dromkeen on a scoreline of 18 points to 1-7. Ahane had previously beaten Kilteely in the group stages with a very late flurry of goals. However, the semi-final proved that the previous game was not a freak win as Ahane dominated this game throughout leading 9 points to 1-2 at half-time. Ahane will now play either Doon or Fedamore in the East final. Team: Mike Fitzgerald, Mike Hayes, Gearoid Hayes, Alan Collins, Patrick Meskell, Pat Conway, Brian Kelly, Mark Hayes, Aidan O'Connor, John Doheny, Cormac Joyce Power, Kevin Berkery, Alan Doherty, David Givens, Pat Culhane. Subs used: Donal O'Sullivan, Michael Kelly, Cathal O'Connor.
In the East Under 14A Hurling Final, Ahane were beaten by Doon on a scoreline of 2-6 to 0-6. The scoreline does not reflect the intensity of this game. In the first half, Mark Kennedy was most unlucky that a very good shot was saved by the Doon goalkeeper. Both sides were level at half-time with 3 points each. Doon started the second half with a goal and despite tremendous effort from every Ahane player, Doon were the eventual winners. This team has shown great committment and effort this year and great credit is due to team mentors Finbar McCarthy, Mike O'Brien and Donal Morrissey.
Congratulations to Ahane Camogie team who defeated Granagh/Ballingarry in the County Senior Camogie semi-final. Best of luck in the final.
