Patrickswell GAA Notes
August 25, 2008
Our footballers were triumphant in their opening fixture of the Junior B championship. The boys produced an impressive display to defeat Milford by 1-10 to 3-2 in a keenly contested match in Patrickswell. It was the first competitive victory for some years and a great boost to football in the village. Unfortunately, the competition has lost Crecora and St. Patrick's. As a result of these withdrawals, the Well have one remaining group fixture against Pallaskenry in September.
In the semi-final of the City Junior B Hurling Championship, Patrickswell were soundly beaten by a strong Pallaskenry side at Rathbane. Pallaskenry were the hot favourites and were good value for their victory.
Patrickswell GAA wishes the best of luck to the Limerick Intermediates in the All-Ireland final at Thurles. There are three proud Patrickswell men in the squad - Ciaran Carey, Peter O'Reilly and Peter Harty and we hope they have a great day. It is a marvellous achievement to reach an All-Ireland final and represent your county. Kilkenny will provide a stiff challenge as they chase a quadruple success of senior, intermediate, minor and Under 21 crowns. However, there is every confidence that Limerick can outwit the Cats and bring the Intermediate title to Shannonside.
Our Minors will face Kilmallock in the Premier Championship semi-final during September. The City Under 21 hurling championship continues with a home fixture against Na Piarasaigh. The Intermediates have a rescheduled relegation semi-final tie against Hospital Herbertstown.
