Despite finishing with 1-9 to his name as well as the ‘man-of-the-match’ accolade, Aaron Gillane didn’t enjoying looking at the DVD of Limerick’s league final win over Waterford.

The Patrickswell clubman also clocked up eight wides during the course of his team's 1-24 to 0-19 victory and that stat prompted him to get a bit of shooting practice in after he finished watching it back.

“I was actually cringing watching it,” he revealed to the Irish Independent at the launch of the 2019 John West National Feile yesterday.

“I had eight wides and I was like, 'Jeez, how did he get man of the match in this?'

“But it was good because after every match you always have stuff to work on.

“So I watched it and threw on a pair of shorts and then went straight up to the field and hit a few shots.

“I'd drive myself mad trying to perfect things but it's good to have things to work on.”
