Mangan, Brendan

The unexpected death occurred of Mr. Brendan Mangan late of Carrigalen and Churchtown, Dublin, in Saint James's Hospital following a brief illness. He was eldest son of the late ex garda Thomas and Bridget Mangan, Carrigallen.The late Garda Mangan was stationed in the town for almost thirty years and the Mangan family were all born and reared in the area. Brendan, like all his brothers and sisters,received his early education in Carrigallen National School and Moyne Lation School. Brendan went on to UCD and later became a teacher. He was a star player on Carrigallen senior team and when he was appointed teacher in Dublin he returned regularly to his native home. On his retirement from teaching he and his brother Gerard and wife made the journey home nearly every weekend. Sympathy is extended to his brothers Gerard and Anthony, sisters Maureen S.R.N., Kay and Pauline, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews and nieces. The removal of remains and funeral took place from the Church of the Good Shepherd following requiem Mass. Burial took place in Dean's Grange Cemetery. Courtesy of the Leitrim Observer.
