Crunch clash for Leitrim minors
May 18, 2007
It's crunch time for Leitrim minor footballers as they clash with Sligo in the Connacht MFC at Ballinamore on Saturday evening, May 19 (6.30).
The winners of this second-round round-robin tie will progress to the semi-final stage of the U18 provincial knockout, wherein they will face either Galway or Mayo.
The losers will be out.
Both teams have played once in the round-robin group. Leitrim drew with defending All-Ireland champions Roscommon in the competition opener, while Sligo lost to a rejuvenated Rossies outfit last time out. Those results mean that a draw this weekend would be sufficient to send Leitrim into the last four.
But the Yeats County hold the psychological advantage as they prevailed when these two met in the Connacht minor league earlier in the year.
