Brennan, Mike Joe

Mike Joe Brennan It was with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of club president Mike-Joe Brennan. Mike Joe has been a loyal and dedicated servant of the club all his life as a player, a team selector and official. Mike Joe served as treasurer of the club for many years before going on to become club president, a position he held for the past twenty-five years. Mike Joe was a well recognised face at Cloone games for many years and for generations of Cloone players will be remembered for been the first man there with the bag of jerseys on his back. Together with his wife Nancy they assumed the job of looking after the jerseys for all Cloone teams for many years. Mike Joe also played a key role in the procurement and development of our club ground in the late 70s. Mike Joe was much liked character in the club and his wit and good humour endeared him to all. The many roles and tasks he took within the club down through the years has meant his memory and place in the history of our club will be forever assured. Mike Joe was very generous with is time and skills to the club and during a different era around Cloone Mike Joe's Morris Minor served as team bus and committee meeting room! The large crowd who turned out in Cloone for his removal and funeral at the weekend also evidenced Mike Joe's popularity within the community. To his wife Nancy, sons Damien, Kieran, Louie, Pacelli and daughter Mary, son in law, daughters in law, grandchildren, brother, sisters and large circle of friends we extend our deepest sympathy.
