Rooney: you could see the pressure
September 29, 2016Glencar/Manor manager Aidan Rooney believes that both sets of players were under pressure in the county SFC semi-final.
Rooney guided his charges to a 0-12 to 0-07 win over St Mary's and in doing so saw them into a seventh county final in nine years.
It was a tense affair throughout and Rooney told the Leitrim Observer that it was obvious to see the pressure that the players were under.
"Semi-finals bring a lot of pressure, finals don't bring as much pressure in that you go and play and if you win, you win and if you don't, you don't," said Rooney.
"Semi-finalists don't get that chance if you don't win so today was a pressured game. We knew Carrick had beaten us early on this year so we weren't taking anything for granted."
