Leitrim defender Gary Reynolds is looking forward to his first Connacht senior football championship appearance against Galway.

Reynolds is confident that they will be showcase the level they are at since the league and he is hopeful that they can make home advantage count.

"This game against Galway is a great opportunity for us to show how much fitter and sharper we've become since the league," Reynolds told the Leitrim Observer.

"There's a great buzz in the camp and we're ready to unleash that against Galway on Sunday. It is something of an unknown quantity, we've only met Galway in the FBD League and that's not a fair measure of any team going into the championship so it's great to get a chance at one of the big two.

"We're looking to start well, keep things competitive in the early stages and build on from that. The youngers lads who came in have brought a new sense of energy as well so we're all really enjoying our football. Hopefully, with the bit of local support we might get the upper hand on Galway."
