Willies proved themselves - Gilheaney

October 30, 2014

Ciaran Gilheaney says Aughawillan's Connacht Club win over Tubbercurry proved that their county SFC success was no flash in the pan.

The new Leitrim standard-bearers dismissed any lingering notions that they had caught St Mary's on the hop in the county decider when they scored Leitrim's first club championship victory since 2005 at Markievicz Park on Sunday.

"There was no shock [in the county final]," Man of the Match Gilheaney insists in The Leitrim Observer. "We did our work in the county final and put in a performance and we done our work here and got a performance.

"It is such a young team and there is no stopping them when they're going and do what they're told.

"We keep it simple, we all fight for each other. We've all come through the ranks together and it's brilliant. We really are a group of brothers."
