Gortletteragh Notes

April 22, 2014
Connacht GAA Go Games U12 Blitz:
Gortletteragh U12 footballers set off to Croke Park early on Wednesday morning. The day trip was filled with fun and excitement for these girls and boys. They arrived at the Cusack Stand at 9:45 and both U12 teams played three games each against teams from neighbouring Connacht Clubs. For the majority of these children it was their first time in Croke Park so it was a great honour for them to represent their club. When the games were over, the players, mentors and parents were given a guided tour of Croke Park and the Museum which was most interesting. Thanks to our loyal supporter Barry Costello for his generous donation towards the cost of transporting the players. Best wishes to Barry in Australia and looking forward to his return to Gortletteragh in the Autumn. Great credit goes to Mark Heslin and his mentors for organising the trip. For all those players who participated in the blitz, we hope they will have longlasting memories of their day.

Division 1 & 3
Our first and second teams took on St Mary's at home over the weekend and unfortunately came out the wrong side of both matches. In a rip roaring encounter our seniors scored 1-15 against the current county champions but unfortunately goals win games and St Mary's score of 3-10 saw them win by the narrowest of margins. The Gortletteragh team was Conan Clarke, Colm Duffy, Niall Woods, Alan McGarry, James Campbell, Kevin McGrath, Niall Duffy, Ciaran Egan, Mark Duignan, Alan McCann, Evan Ward, Conor Reynolds, Padraig Gallagher, Cathal Quinn and Neil Quinn. Subs: Jack Heslin and Francie Flynn. On Sunday our Juniors put up a high score of 3-11 but St Mary's score of
3-15 won on the day. Team: Eoin O'Bradaigh, Niall Mulvey, Alan McGarry, Liam Mitchell, David Campbell, Gerard Griffen, David Mulvey, Evan Ward, Francie Flynn, Sean Costello, Neil Quinn, Jimmy Canning, Noel Heslin, Gavin Mitchell and Jack Heslin. Subs: Peadar Cassells, Conor Woods and Niall Tiernan.

Fixtures:
Saturday next our seniors play Melvin Gaels in Division 1 at 7pm in Gortletteragh while our Juniors are not in action this weekend.
