Meagher Cup: Warwickshire remain on course

May 13, 2012
Warwickshire booked their place in the Lory Meagher Cup semi-finals thanks to a 2-14 to 1-10 victory over Leitrim in Ballinamore.

Emmet McCabe scored an early goal for the Exiles and Ruairi Wedel added a second late in the first half to help them to a 2-9 to 1-6 lead at the break. The Leitrim goal was scored by the ever-reliable Clement Cunniffe who finished as the game's top scorer.

The story of the second half was the performance of the hosts' goalkeeper Tommy McLoughlin who made three point-blank saves. His heroics, however, failed to inspire his team-mates as the visitors marched on.

Scorers - Warwickshire: M Ivors 0-9 (6f), E McCabe 1-1, R Wedel 1-0 1(f), K Courtney 0-2 (1 '65'), C Behan and D Sheedy 0-1 each. Leitrim: C Cunniffe 1-7 (6f), S Moradi, N McLoughlin, K McGrath 0-1 each.
