Connact VEC final this Friday
January 26, 2012The Leitrim VEC team became the first intercounty side from the county to play at the new Connacht Centre of Excellence in Ballyhaunis last Friday, beating Galway by 2-8 to 0-6 in the semi-final, and they will return to the scene of that success on January 27th for the provincial decider.
Leitrim played against the wind in the first half of the semi-final and turned around trailing by 0-5 to 0-3.
Nathan Conboy delivered the opening goal immediately upon the resumption and a run of three quickfire points from Nicholas Moore, Kevin Shanley and Cathal McCauley put the winners in complete control.
Midfielder Thomas Mulvey's late goal sealed a memorable win and ensured a meeting with Mayo in the decider. Tweet
