SFC: Annaduff edge out Drumreilly
August 13, 2010
Annaduff 1-12
Drumreilly 1-11
Annaduff rallied late to steal a victory against Drumreilly last weekend and book their place into the quarter-finals of the senior football championship.
In need of a four-point win to book their place into the last eight, Drumreilly raced out of the traps in this encounter and opened up a strong lead with points from Declan Maxwell, Sean Fee, James Holohan and Damon Maguire.
However, it was Frank Holohan's goal that was the real separating difference at the break as Drumreilly went in with a 1-6 to 0-4 lead to boast.
Frank Holohan and Fee pointed early on in the restart to extend the lead, but Annaduff hit back with overs from Joe Cox and Enda McHugh. Drumreilly would then move seven points clear with the finish-line insight, before the winners ignited themselves.
A superb effort from Ray Cox along the left wing was backed up by an Enda McHugh free. A fisted point from Joe Cox left Drumreilly needing a goal to restore their points' advantage, but it was the winners that netted in injury-time through a brilliant run and finish from Enda McHugh which sealed the deal.
